You only have a day to buy the original release of Dark Souls on PC, Prepare to Die Edition, before it gets pulled.

As previously announced, Namco is taking Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition off Steam in preparation for the launch of the enhanced Dark Souls Remastered.

This is only being done on PC, since it's the only platform where both versions exist. Tomorrow, May 9, Prepare to Die Edition vanishes from the Steam store.

Dark Souls Remastered will go live instead, but that won't happen until the release day of May 25. The remaster is priced $40, but owners of the original release get it at 50% off.

Seeing as Prepare to Die Edition is priced $20 on Steam, it may not make much sense to buy it now for the discount later, since that would save you no money compared to paying the $40 at launch.

That said, there are two things you should consider if you don't own the original on Steam. First, buying it now will let you own both games, so if for any reason you wanted to return to the original in the future, you'll be able to do so.

Lastly, it's possible to find Prepare to Die cheaper on third-party sites, all of which sell Steam codes, which would be cheaper than paying $20 + $20. These keys likely will remain available for sometime to come, you just won't be able to buy the game directly from Steam.

Dark Souls Remastered is out May 25 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you're on consoles, be sure to check out the network test taking place this weekend.
