In FIFA 20, football’s top strikers are deadlier than ever. Thanks to the new ball-physics system that mean you can finish more emphatically than ever, you can poach goals more consistently. Here are the best strikers in FIFA 20 to drive your team to glory.
We've updated some of our suggestions based on the January transfer window, but most remain unchanged.
First off, a few ground rules. We’ll begin with a list of the highest rated strikers by overall, then move on to some cheaper, but still fun, pickups.
Because they’re all classed as attackers, we’ll include player with listed positions of ST, CF, LW, RW, LF, and RF.
If you want to search out your own favourites, SoFIFA is a great resource for data.
FIFA 20 - Best strikers
These are the highest rated strikers in FIFA 20 by pure overall rating - you’ll likely have heard of most of them, but it’s still useful to get an idea of the best-of-the-best.
Best strikers to buy in FIFA 20 career mode
While you’re building your own team to take on the world, it’s probably not that realistic to prise Messi away from Barcelona, or rob CR7 of his dream to play for Piemonte Calcio. What’s more, the top target men in world football are frequently getting towards the end of their career, which isn’t great for a multi-season save.
Here are some ideas for strikers to buy in all different kinds of career modes, whether that’s with Madrid or Macclesfield. We’ve tried to stick to strikers you can pick up in your first season - no one likes looking up players only to get the dreaded “won’t move again”.
The major omission based on that then is Norwegian sensation Erling Braut Haaland, who only joined Dortmund in January.
Here are more of the best strikers and wingers in FIFA 20:
- Leroy Sane - 23 - 86/90 - Man City
While only the world’s biggest clubs will be able to afford him, wantaway winger Leroy Sane was linked with Bayern in the summer, but stayed with Pep’s City due to injury. Sane has the stats to play anywhere across the forward line, with enough searing pace and good finishing to slot into any team. I think he could easily play through the middle in FIFA 20 thanks to his 6ft frame and solid physicals.
- Ousmane Dembele - 22 - 83/90 - Barcelona
Barca can’t even get Ousmane Dembele out of bed and into training, so it’s not unrealistic that he’d move on - especially since it was widely reported he was offered as part of the deal in the ill-fated Neymar saga. His real-life inconsistencies aren’t as prevalent in FIFA 20, so expect plenty of pace, trickery, and technical ability for your money, as well as tons of room to grow.
- Timo Werner - 23 - 86/89 - Leipzig
Another striker long mooted to take some of the burden from Lewandowski at Bayern, Timo Werner is a rapier-point poacher who could bolster any squad. While his passing and strength aren’t the best, Werner more than makes up for this with extreme pace and great finishing.
- Oyarzabal - 22 - 83/89 - Sociedad
Mikel Oyarzabal is a gifted young winger who relies on technical prowess rather than pace to contribute offensively from the wing. His sky-high potential of 89 means he has plenty of room to grow, and he already has a finishing stat in the high 80s.
- Steven Bergwijn - 21 - 82/87 - PSV - MOVED TO SPURS
Bergwijn is super young and already brilliant. What he lacks in finishing he makes up for with dribbling, pace, and power, and would be a hot prospect to pick up with a big team. At least until Daniel Levy brought him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January. After the first season you can look at picking him up, then train up his attacking mentals to improve his end product.
- Lautaro Martinez - 22 - 84/91 - Inter
After making the switch to the San Siro last season, Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez can now be bought in the first transfer window - and that's the time to bag him since his value is only going to rise. Although his short passing lags a little behind at 74, Martinez excels with over 80 in pace, agility, dribbling, finishing, heading accuracy, strength, jumping, and positioning.
- Memphis Depay - 25 - 84/87 - Lyon
A lot of great players didn't quite make it at Man United, and Memphis Depay has turned into a world-beater. He's an incredible all-rounder when it comes to attacking stats with 80+ pace, finishing, dribbling, strength, passing, and stamina.
- Jonathan David - 19 - 77/88 - Genk
Teenage Canadian centre-forward Jonathan David has it all: pace, stamina, and finishing - despite not even being 20 years old. With tons of stats already approaching 80, he's definitely still useful while he grows into his 88 potential, and is sure to tear up a secondary European or lower British league.
- Eddie Nketiah - 20 - 70/85 - Arsenal
With his loan at Leeds terminated, you're free to pick up young English striker Eddie Nketiah with a lower league team. He has decent finishing and often hits 99 pace quickly in Career Mode.
- Adam Hlozek - 17 - 74/88 - Sparta Prague
Speaking of players with room to grow, Adam Hlkozek is another cheaper option that can increase dramatically. The big benefit of picking him up is that he’s got great strength for a young player, so he can play out on the wing or through the middle.
- Mason Greenwood - 17 - 73/89 - Man U
Mason Greenwood is getting some decent minutes this season under Ole, and he’s a hot prospect on FIFA 20 too. It's starting to get a bit played out, but he can be had for a cheap fee despite his profile, and starts with decent pace and a 5 star weak foot.
- Josh Sargent - 19 - 69/83 - Bremen
Like Greenwood, but without the weak foot, Sargent has a bit of pace and decently average stats across the board. While it’s not super realistic, he’s good for a weaker team’s bench, or lower division club.
- Danylo Sekan - 18 - 63/83 - Shakhtar
When your budget is low, you need to get creative. Sekan has a good potential rating of 83, but you’ll need to train up his stamina to make him top quality. 2 star weak foot is another negative, but he has decent pace and finishing for the price.
- Yanis Begraoui - 18 - 59/81 - Auxerre
Despite being a really low rating, Begraoui has a lot of plus points for the price. Pace in the 70s, decent stamina, dribbling, and fishing, as well as a 5 star weak foot. If you’ve only got a small amount to spend, there are worse calls you could make.
